Could it be Dyslexia???

Without formal testing, dyslexia can not be accurately diagnosed. Here are some symptoms by grade that would indicate further testing. Earlier diagnosis and therapy leads to better educational outcomes for students with dyslexia.  At age 5.5, dyslexia can be diagnosed with 92% accuracy according to the National Institutes of Health. Don't wait to get tested!!

Kindergarten - 1st grade 

  • difficulty rhyming words

  • difficulty identifying initial or final sounds in familiar words

  • difficulty learning the alphabet

  • poor knowledge of letter- sound relationships​

2nd - 3rd Grade

  • ongoing difficulties with reading unfamiliar words

  • slow, labored reading

  • poor reading comprehension

  • poor spelling
